About Zabou’s work

Zabou spent her childhood in West Africa and Asia, member of an adventurous family who were always on the move off the beaten track.
A range of different careers, from geologist to jewellery designer, led her to live in many countries, from Antarctica to Zimbabwe.

Her peregrinations engendered encounters with outstanding women and men, cultures and landscapes that are reflected in the thousands of beads in her collection: from Saharan neolithic quartz beads to medieval Indian agates; from Murano glass beads to Afghan lapis lazuli; beads in terra cotta, coral, amber, stone, and plastic. They bear witness to the history, traditions, and expertise, now all too often lost, trade and the immemorial desire for adornment.

Zabou creates unique pieces to accompany art exhibitions, specific themes, and events.
Zabou also collaborates with other artist/designers: beads for the VenIst / VIVO/ Venice Reflections collections  were made by the bead artist Muriel Balensi and the workshop of master glassmaker Aristide Najean. The ceramist Odile Besuchet created the porcelain elements in the "Mode à Dijon" collection,  the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon (2022) and for the Bougainvilliers 2025 Collection.
